“We decided to move to Bayway Village in 2020 after realising it was time to simplify our lives. I was recovering from a heart transplant and our large property in Waratah West - with four bedrooms, a pool, a man cave, dog kennels, and even a small paddock - had become too much to manage. Friends of ours were already living at Bayway and spoke so positively about it that we decided to visit.
We were really impressed by the modern home designs and the welcoming atmosphere, so we made the move - and we’ve never looked back. Life here has given us the perfect retirement. We’re close enough to family and friends in Newcastle, but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. Our home is comfortable, beautifully positioned, and surrounded by friendly neighbours. There’s a real sense of calm here - we can sit on our deck, watch the birds, and chat with people as they stroll by. Everything about Bayway makes day-to-day living easy and enjoyable.
There’s always something to do here, with no pressure to join in if you’d rather take it easy. I’ve found a great sense of purpose at the Bayway Men’s Shed, where I can use my skills to help others and stay active. Lyn enjoys her weekly Hoi group, and we both love the art sessions, the pool, and the community house. Whether it’s reading a book, playing snooker, or attending a social event, there’s always a friendly face and something enjoyable to take part in.
Moving to Bayway has given us both peace of mind and financial security. We own our home, and with our site fees taken care of automatically, it’s easy to manage our budget and live comfortably on our superannuation. It’s a simple, affordable lifestyle that still feels full of quality.
The location is unbeatable. We’re right next to Newcastle Golf Course and just a short trip from Stockton, with its coffee shops, clubs, and ferry to Newcastle. We love walking along Stockton Beach or the Breakwall and going fishing from time to time.
Our children and grandchildren visit often - they enjoy walking around the village, having a BBQ near the duck pond, and a swim in the pool. It’s wonderful having them so close by.
Downsizing to Bayway was one of the best decisions we’ve made. All those years of home maintenance, pool cleaning, and endless yard work are behind us. The maintenance team keeps everything looking beautiful, so we can spend our time doing what we love. The homes are modern, the people are young at heart, and the lifestyle is second to none. Bayway has truly exceeded our expectations.
